Rising Sun Flag
- Adopted in 1870
- Used as a naval ensign and formerly war flag
This is currently the naval ensign of Japan, and was formerly the naval ensign of the Imperial Japanese Navy. A similar version with a central circle was used as the war flag of the Imperial Japanese Army. It is commonly used to represent Japan during WWII.
